Painting Holidays
For our
artistic guests La Galerie offers wonderful painting
holidays
in the beautiful Lot, where guests can enjoy the
right mix of painting and free time to enjoy the
comforts
of La Galerie - a swim in the salt-water swimming
pool - and the
delights
of this unspoilt corner of south-west France.
One of the features of our painting holidays is
that guests can really settle down in one location
and
get to know it. Our stress free, informal support
will see you in inspiring places that make
this region a magnet for artists who love the challenge
of new subjects in unspoilt surroundings. You
will paint and sketch while sightseeing in an area
that
has inspired French artists for centuries.
La Galerie painting holidays are aimed at any one
who enjoys painting or who would like to enjoy
painting, but would never normally have the time
to relax and paint. Our resident tutor will provide
you with inspiration for your paintings and sketches.
To avoid disappointment we suggest that you book your lessons when making your reservation, in order to pre-book the tutor. However it may be possible to arrange lessons once you have arrived at La Galerie. It is possible to have as few or as many lessons as you would like during your stay.

An outline of the first two days of a group art course:
After group introductions and aims, the tutor will discuss the relevance of composition in creating a picture, all in the relaxing atmosphere of La Galerie. Then create a composition inspired by something in the immediate surroundings. Followed by a field visit in the vicinity of Catus to sketch and paint a new subject.
A field visit to a local French market to sketch and paint the scene. Then back to La Galerie to work on individual projects. Followed by a group workshop on the progress made so far and then to identify each individual’s next aim.
