Charming character gite with pool near Catus. Situated near the village of Catus, just outside the village of St Medard near the famous Restaurant Le Gindreau. 15 km from Cahors in the department of the Lot. The gite is surrounded by open fields and wooded grounds in the beautiful Lot countryside with a large swimming pool in the attractive gardens. Gite Accommodation
The gite is on two floors, with a large open-plan living space with lovely panoramic views across the gardens, fields and woodland, with WiFi broadband Internet access throughout the gite. The gite has three large bedrooms and three shower-rooms one of these is on the ground floor. Two of the bedrooms are furnished with double beds and the third has twin beds. All the bedrooms are tastefully furnished and all bed linen and towels, including pool towels are provided.
The main living area is open plan with a lounge area, a dining area and a fully fitted kitchen. The lounge has a sofa and comfortable armchairs with a TV (French and English channels) and DVD player. The dining table seats six comfortably. The kitchen has a gas hob with an electric oven, a microwave, a washing machine, a dishwasher and a refrigerator. The gite is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery and glasses, pots, pans and utensils etc. The gite has an outside decked seating area with a table and chairs plus a barbecue for open air dining.
Gardens and Grounds
The gite is situated in it's own large garden with lawns, trees and flowers. The large private swimming pool is surrounded by a large sun terrace for sunbathing and relaxing with sun beds and parasols. There is also a private parking area.
Local Area
The local village of Catus is only a few minutes drive away and has all the necessary shops including a small supermarket, a greengrocers, a butcher, a bread shop, a tabac, a second-hand/antiques shop, two hairdressers, a post office, a bar and a restaurant L'Auberge. There is also a tourist information office with an “internet café”, as in cheap internet access but no coffee. Market day in Catus is every Tuesday morning. A short distance from the village is Lac Vert plan d'eau, a leisure lake which has a large sunbathing lawn and a small beach with a cordoned off children’s bathing area. During high season there is a lifeguard on duty and canoes/pedaloes can be hired. There is also children’s play equipment, free tennis courts and sports fields. There are also 2 lovely local restaurants on the Lac Vert. There are bigger supermarkets and shops in either Cahors or Prayssac, both of which are roughly 20 minutes drive away.
Things to Do
There are many interesting things to see and do in the department of Lot and the surrounding area.
Cahors, which originated in Roman times, is full of old and interesting buildings, including the famous Pont Valentre, a 700 year old fortified bridge.
Figeac “second city of the Lot” with a museum dedicated to Jean-Francois Champollion (1790 – 1832), the man who deciphered the Rosetta stone and thus unraveled the mysteries of Egyptian hieroglyphics.
Rocamadour. A major pilgrimage centre in the Middle Ages and now one of the most significant tourist sites in France. Rocamadour consists of the village and the ecclesiastical city which is a complex of churches and buildings rising above the village.
St. Cirq Lapopie, a medieval town perched on the cliff edge above the Lot.
Sarlat and the castles of Beynac and Castelnau on the Dordogne.
Gouffre de Padirac, Grottes de Cougnac and Grotte de Peche Merle. Pre-history caves with fantastic rock formations and cave paintings.
Canoeing on the Lot or Dordogne rivers.
Catus and environs. Walking on one of the 17 marked local trails of between 5 to 8 km.

The gite is available from Saturday to Saturday from 16 h / 4pm on the arrival day and on the departure day is to be vacated by 10 h / 10am. The gite is rentable for a maximum of six people.Tthere is no smoking in the gite and no pets are accepted in the gite. To reserve the gite a 33% deposit is required with the balance to be paid two months before arrival. An additional sum of €250, a refundable deposit to cover damages or extra cleaning is also required on confirmation of the booking.
